Dark Light

Monday, April 15, 2019 – Answered prayer! We found out that Nikki was finally pregnant after a year of trying. 🎉

We already moved to Davao City during this time.

However, she noticed that there were some “spotting” (light and small amount of blood) & she was also experiencing some pain.

So we immediately had her checked by Doc Stuart and we were advised to do an ultrasound and come back to her.

Good thing her clinic was just around Davao Doctors Hospital so we hurried and did the ultrasound, got the result and hurried back to her clinic.

The sad truth

We gave her the result and she gently broke the true condition, we had an ectopic pregnancy.

The embryo was 6 weeks with hearbeat but got planted in the right fallopian tube.

We didn’t understand what it meant that time but we knew it’s bad and we just cried and prayed.

Dr. Stuart advised us to go immediately to Brokenshire Hospital to see Dr. Cabling who is an expert in Laparoscopy. An operation to remove the embryo to prevent the rapture of the fallopian tube, but with minimal scar.

Emergency

It was Holy Week then but we still went to Brokenshire’s Emergency Room.

There’s only a young resident Doctor that’s on duty as it was usually a holiday season.

She advised us to do another ultrasound which we did because we are hopeful for things to get better.

So we did but we got the same result.

And we had to be admitted that same day as Nikki got scheduled for Laparoscopy operation the next day as this was treated an emergency case.

We couldn’t believe

We were in the room and we couldn’t believe what was happening to us.

We just cried and prayed over and over again.

But we couldn’t do anything to change the situation.

We told the news to our spiritual family that time and asked for prayers.

They visited and even advised to just keep on praying and not proceed with the operation.

It was the very first time that our faith had a war with science.

We fought hard and even got to a point that we advised the resident Doctors that we changed our minds and won’t proceed with the operation.

But they did the best they could and patiently explain to us that if we won’t proceed, we were risking Nikki’s life in case the fallopian tube rapture any time.

It was really hard to accept but we listened and trusted their expertise.

Laparoscopy

Morning came and they prepared Nikki for Laparoscopy.

I cannot remember how long the procedure took but after a long time of waiting I was asked to see Dr. Cabling.

She told me that the operation was finished and showed me the picture of how badly swollen the fallopian tube was.

She also told me that she did check the other fallopian tube and it seems to have some cob webs and I’m not sure if she removed them as well.

I was just glad that we prevented the rapture of the fallopian tube as I couldn’t imagine the danger and extreme pain it could cause to Nikki.

This was the toughest trial we encountered as a married couple for 2 years then.

Even though we lost our supposed to be first born, we were still grateful that Nikki was alive and saved.

We named our first baby, Judah – the protector of his siblings. But we will never know if Baby Judah was a boy or a girl.

We believe that even Baby Judah was just 6 weeks old, still just a tiny embryo, that he was and is in the arms of our heavenly Father.
